Director of the United Nations Regional Information Centre for Western Europe (UNRIC) in Brussels Belgium since 2006. She was the diplomatic correspondent of the French daily Le Monde from 1988 to 2006. She was based in New York until 2003 where she covered the Security Council and also covered countries where the UN had Peacekeeping operations. Ms. Bassir-Pour co-created the CNN’s weekly International Affairs program Diplomatic License and was a commentator on the show from 1994 to 2004. From 2003 to 2006 she was Le Monde’s correspondent in Switzerland and responsible for covering International Geneva in particular Human Rights Council and WTO and World Economic Forum (Davos). Ms. Bassir-Pour is a French national born in Iran. She is married and has one daughter.
